***[[ NETWORK NUGGET READER SURVEY ]]***

http://k12online.ola.bc.ca/survey

Please take a bit of time out of your busy day to
complete the first Network Nugget survey. By telling
us what you like about Network Nuggets you will help
us ensure our Nuggets are meeting your needs and
improving our service to the education community.

The survey should take between 5 to 10 minutes to
complete. We have gathered some prizes to be randomly
awarded to Network Nugget subscribers who have
completed the survey. You could win a $75.00 gift
certificate for chapters.indigo.ca online bookstore or
one of three sets of educational books and videos.
Please complete the survey by April 30th.

We will contact the prize winners by email in the first
week of June 2002. The survey results will be collated
and sent out in one of the last Network Nugget messages
for this school year.

The responses will be used solely by the Open Learning
Agency, and will not be shared with any other group.
Thank you for supporting our service by participating
in this survey.

Across the Divide: An Expedition into the American West
http://www.fgcu.edu/AcrossTheDivide/scouting_vol1.html

This document contains field notes from our Across the Divide, Summer
1999 Prototype Expedition, a 5,661 mile, 49-day scouting trip through
Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. The trip set the
stage for the upcoming Across the Divide, Summer 2000 Expedition. The
Summer 2000 Expedition will include 20 FCGU students and 5 faculty
members. During the scouting trip I met with many fine people from across
the West. I asked that they tell their stories and share their knowledge
with FGCU students and faculty next summer. Their response was phenomenal.
Our students will have the opportunity to hear from Westerners from many
walks of life and to engage in a number of interesting field experiences.

I emailed copies of the field notes, "Notes from the West, Vols. 1-9,"
to individuals in the FGCU community as time and Internet access permitted

Sincerely,
David Dillard

Study Calculates the Effects of College Drinking in U.S.

By DIANA JEAN SCHEMO

ASHINGTON, April 9 - On an average day, according to a new study, 4
college students die in accidents involving alcohol. An additional 1,370 suffer
injuries tied to drinking, the study says, and an estimated 192 are
raped by their dates or sexually assaulted after drinking.

A new study by global management consulting firm A.T. Kearney and Joint

serious issue and a necessary precondition to solving the Digital Divide.
But the study doesn't stop there. The Digital Divide in
the Silicon Valley, the study finds, incorporates four components: a
workforce gap, an educational achievement gap, an interest gap, and a
technology skill and access gap.
