Where can I get the latest release and how to download it.

Latest official releases (sources and binaries) are available from http://www.net-snmp.org/download/ .

Latest nightly snapshots of the CVS trees (source only) are available from http://www.net-snmp.org/nightly/tarballs/ .

I have the default snmp which has come along with OS (SUSE 8 and 9, windows
2000,xp). How will I get to know the version of these snmp's. is there any
command ?????

Different 8.x/9.x SuSE Linux versions ship with different ucd-snmp/net-snmp versions. Use "rpm -q ucd-snmp" (older versions) or "rpm -q net-snmp" to get the version number on your system. Latest SuSE Linux 9.3 (as well as 10 beta) ships with (slightly modified) net-snmp 5.2.1.

Windows 2000/XP/... do not (yet ;-)) ship with net-snmp by default.
