As soon as you restart? As in immediately? Or does it happen gradually as you
poll the extTable?

Immediately after restart, without a need to poll first.

Hmmm... is there a more recent net-snmp available? Maybe 5.1.2? I couldn't get
the memory stats to budge, polling the results once a second, for 5.2.rc4 or
5.1.2. I don't keep 5.1 around, so I can't try that one.

Ok, I got tarball 5.1.2 and tried to installed it as recommended. After invoking "agent/snmpd -r -f -Le udp:1161" and snmpwalking I got no response at all... Well, I am no snmp specialist and I didn't want waste time on that, therefore I decided to replace my system's snmpd version entirely.

And guess what? It works ... Does that mean there is such a critical bug in that version? I mean, that makes the rpm SuSE distributes unusable. Are you in contact with the SuSE guys to report these kind of problems so they could provide a fixed rpm?

Thanks again,
