Purposes
- This course introduces students to the basic principles of project management.
- Students will gain a high-level understanding of project management theories
and practices through instructor-led lecture and discussion.
- This course will help provide people who have little prior project management
experience with the information needed to improve how they schedule and manage
their own work assignments.
Objectives :
- Recognize the phases of a project
- Recognize the need to validate requirements
- Understand change management
- Develop a simple work breakdown structure (WBS)
- Describe the fundamentals of risk management, including mitigation strategies
- Understand estimating concepts
- Describe networks and specific scheduling considerations
- Understand how to control a project
- Describe effective closeout procedures
Audience
- No prerequisites for this class
- It is intended for those who want to learn the basic concepts for managing
their work assignments as well as team leaders who want to understand general
practices for managing their projects.
- This course is not meant for project team leaders or project team members who
require an in-depth knowledge of the project management concepts, practices,
and skills required to manage a large project.
