the clunky email discussion lists do not always work as well (as this spontaneous & wild one here) when they are moderated and controlled and when there is a fictive membership (hundreds, thousands?) that do not engage in debates so that the extended discussion, as Alan seems to think it exists in empyre,. is matter of a dozen guests a month who have been gathered into a forum - this can be very good and very provocative, indeed, but I also have seen less and less listening, Alan, than you suggest; and a lot of posters.
