After updating 'mplayer', 'mpv', and 'ffplay4' to pkgsrc-2020Q3, I have not seen any crashes nor "black window" playing test files without needing "LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1".
'ffplay4' is rather choppy in its playback, 'mpv --vo=gpu' works although it may de-sync on some files. "xv" and "sdl" video output works. Again, this is on NetBSD/amd64-9.0_STABLE. -- |/"\ John D.
