Hallo!
My name is Stefano and I am trying Netdot. It is a very useful tool for network
administrators. You've really done a very good job.
I'm writing this email to have an information about the command line utilities.
By using the web administration gui the administrator can add/delete/modify
almost every object (device, site, ...) stored into the Netdot database.
Unfortunately the administrator does not have always access to the web gui (the
Netdot host could be behind a firewall, nat, ...). In these cases the solution
could be doing an ssh to the Netdot server and use the command line tools.
The Netdot command line utilities set does not seems to be very rich. To add
one or more devices to the Netdot database I use the updatedevices.pl utility
but there is no utility to delete a device.
How can I remove a device from the database without using the web gui? I tried
to do a "delete from" sql query but I got a foreign key constraint error due to
the fact that the tables have foreign key constrains with no "cascade" option.
Are you planning to develop more command line utilities?

Thanks
Stefano Martini

Not at the moment, but we would gladly accept your code if you do.

One way to do this is to write utilities that interact with the REST API, so
they can be executed from anywhere.

Best,

cv
