This sounds like something we and another ND customer have encountered
recently. Turn on detailed logging and check it next time this happens.
In our case, we think that in-process logic that connects to an external
web site and downloads stuff is hijacking all system resources when the
volume downloaded is large. The specific error is a file system error,
trying to open an .ser file.
We are 4.1.3.8 on solaris 2.6, I believe.
