Hey, you are not dumb. The process _could_ be much more smooth. This is not meant as any kind of criticism of the work of our core team. They do a superb job! The features introduced with iptables / netfilter in the Linux 2.4 kernel, have been working reliably for a long time. It's all that newfangled stuff (provided much earlier than the opening of the _official_ 2.5 branch, and working its way into the stable kernel) which is giving these kinds of problems. The next stable kernel, 2.6.0, will be a dream :-) best regards Patrick
