bob the problem is i want to know how much iptables uses the system
RAM...top does give me many useful figures but not the ones i want... as
i wrote earlier--my RH7.2-kernel 2.4.18 iptables 1.2.5 with
squid2.4Stable3, & few other process takes only about 150-160 mb of the
512mb RAM in the system !!.. but the free RAM is only 3mb ... i know on
512 the max conntrack is about 32200appx & the active connection on my
system has maximum gone to about 5500( fgrep conn /proc/slabinfo).
iproute is the only other modules running on my system which has 5 ether
port....
port0 is the interface to gateway... port1 handles office lan with 60
valid ips... port2 handles RAS having 1 E1 line on valid ip... port4 has
lease lines about 224 valid ips ..& port5 has masqueraded clients--those
having private ips about 120 of them..
therfore i want to know where everytime the RAM goes !!..( squid uses
only about 25%)... iproute handling bandwidth or iptables ??
sorry i dint gave any details in my previous mails but as u c am curious
on the amount of RAM being used & where?
thanx & regards
A.H
