I believe that we can expect a backup facility and software to allow remote shutdown of computers in the new Local Support Tools (due some time in the future - over this summer hopefully).

Also that the computers will get Service Pack 2 installed and we can say goodbye to local mode. Local mode is to be replaced by an administration user (whose details are to be passed on to the authorised users). This will allow the installation of your own software. Google Earth for example.

This means no more two gigabyte limit but also a visit from your friendly Northgate technician who will have to rebuild each C2K computer (again hopefully over the summer).

I expect the tools are only for authorised users but I do not know for sure.

If you know more about the new tools or have heard of any other interesting C2K news please post the details to Netman.
