I'll chime in on this one too since I've noticed this as a new problem in NM
3.0. In 2.1 you could uncheck the mic and speaker boxes and other audio
apps would work, but the settings would get reset the next time NM started.
In 3.0 it remembers the settings, but doesn't allow any other audio (well,
at least WAV - CDs do play) even if the speaker box is unchecked. Since I
like to run NM in the background to be listed in the ILS this causes some
problems with other audio apps.
