It might, actually.
I don't recall whether AOL goes over port 80 (web port, probably open)
or some other port.
The univ. network admins could have just specifically opened the AOL port
to allow for AOL, but left all the other ports closed.

How about this: my daughter's computer is currently configured so she can
connect to AOL over the internet after she connects to the University of
Florida network. (In other words she doen't have to use a dial-up modem
connection to get on AOL).
Would this qualify as "reaching the outside," and allow her to use
Netmeeting
from
AOL and transmit to me?
