Absolutely wrong.
First of all, no industry survey has shown that. In fact, the ones I
remember reading show exactly the opposite, but let's leave scientific
research out of it for a minute. Let's use that gray stuff between our ears
and think critically about it.
Let's look at some other media:
SNAIL MAIL: I call random snail mail "junk mail."
TELEPHONE: Random phone callers are usually telemarketers who get me to hang
up on them faster than I can click cancel.
DOOR: Jehovahs Witnesses. Enough said.
NetMeeting is closest to a telephone (and random telephone calls are NOT
accepted anywhere). I use NetMeeting for fun and business. I do NOT want any
more random calls. Are you really so lonely that you feel a need to click on
someone's name using NetMeeting to try to talk with them? That's sad. Why
don't you just go into an IRC or an AOL chat room? That techology is far
more robust for randomly talking with other folks.
OK, there's quite a few of you out there looking for sex. Even here, it
seems that you don't really want a random call. You want some beautiful
unmarried blonde woman calling, not someone like me who's male, fat, and
married. (OK, if you're into male, fat, married men, please don't call -- I
have enough trouble in my life as it is <grin>).

There's nothing wrong with that if you are calling people who want to chat
with you.
I didn't get into NetMeeting as a replacement for IRC. I got into it so that
I could talk with business partners, friends, and family about things on a
small group basis.
One more thing: I don't accept random NetMeeting calls.
