Hi,
I have been working on a project that involves implementing netmeeting
within our LAN infrastructure (which has no connection to the internet).
None of the workstations have static IP addresses, all use DHCP to lease
addresses for a defined time period, therefore i cant use the IP address
option to place calls. As a result setting up an internal ILS server seems
the only way to go. Do any of u know where i can get hold of information on
how to build an ILS server or if there is a better option available?
regards
Anj

Hi!
I made just made available a new version of the
OpenH323 gatekeeper at
http://www.willamowius.de/openh323gk.html
A short description what a gatekeeper does is at
http://www.willamowius.de/gk_faq.html
This is still a developers release (you have to compile
it yourself eg. with Visual C++ 6.0), but it's already
usefull for people who know what they are doing.

Jan

I am a recent subscriber of the netmeeting and I have down loaded into my
computer. Yet when I want to enter the directory for chatting or calling I
can not. A box shows up stating that I am not hooked up to the directory
server. Yet in all the installation everything seems to be all right. Can it
be that I am with AOL and the netmeeting is in microsoft. Please help with
this problem.

I AM USEING AOL-------AND I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT I HAVE FOUND THAT IF
YOU CHANGE ANYTHING IN YOUR SETTINGS, CLOSE IT UP ALL THE WAY AND THEN OPEN
NETMEETING AND IT SHOULD EITHER CONNECT OK---OR SCROLL THE LIST AND TRY TO
LOG ON FROM MENU. IT MIGHT TAKE A COUPLE TIMES, BUT IT IS CAUSE THE INTERNET
SERVER IS BUSY. THERE IS NO PROBLEM SO FAR THAT I AM AWARE OF SINCE I
FIGURED
OUT THIS WAY. IT TAKES A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT THEN SUCCESS!

Is anyone currently using MeetingPoint (from wpine.com) as a
gatekeeper/gateway?
I just purchased this. I am trying to setup a conference between PC
Netmeeting users and MAC CU-SeeMe users. At the current time I can't see
each others platform computers.

The only control I know of is to change the video transmission size or for
the receiver to change the Faster video=== Better quality slider ( are you
using that?) - I am not sure exactly what that slider controls.

Bill, I have been using Dialpad and speaking to my son in Greece. I
cannot connect with him from the states to Greece. However he is able to
call me PC to telephone. It seems the Dialpad server recognizes 10 digit
telephone numbers (area code + number).
You have to register with them and everytime you access DialPad, Jave is
loaded.
Good Luck
