The _complete_ documentation for COM can be found in the official
specification
on Microsoft's site. This is a bit daunting, though. You might
want to start
with an introduction to COM book (Inside COM, Active Template
Library,
Beginning ATL COM Programming, etc.). This would be enough to get
you
up and running.
This is a drawback of the NM SDK. To use it in a full application
you need to
have more than a basic understanding of COM (and some experience is
very
helpful), which has a substantial learning curve. But once you
become more
experienced with COM you will find the interface-style access to NM
very
convenient...especially if you need to integrate it into an
application that is
already based on COM.
This makes it more difficult for someone who does not have COM
experience
to get up and running with the NM SDK. But MS does not care: to
them
COM is everything.
