Interesting you should ask: This not entirely scattered reply hinges on
your mention of SQL servers:
This morning in my ODBC data source administrator properties page, system
DSN tab I found two fields Name (MQIS) and Driver (SQL server) --
parentheses listed as one line, window content. Bottom of that tab page
said; "An ODBC system data source stores information about how to connect to
the indicated data provider. A system data source is visible to all users on
this machine including NT servers" Back over on my User DSN tab -- which
had no drivers listed, bottom of that page tab said; "An ODBC User Data
source stores information about how to connect to the indicated data
provider. A User data source is only visible to you and can only be used on
the current machine. Over on the File DSN tab page I read on the bottom;
"An ODBC data source allows you to connect to a data provider. File DSNs can
be shared by users who have the same drivers installed."
A couple of days ago I clicked on my Personal Web Server properties and
asked to look at the Home Page I'd created from
start>pgms>accessories>internetTools>WebPageWizard the PWS properties page
button to view my Home page took me to an Internet explorer path that was
different than the path given in the following sources. I'm having trouble
figuring out where to file my ftp pages as well. Point here in mentioning
this, is that on the web_page_unavailable details there was some mention
about DSN something-er-other (my notes on that are out of reach now)
...setting?
Yesterday I started looking around my ODBC data source properties page and
found my User DSN driver inventory was empty.
In addition to what I've listed above, that ODBC is a programming interface
that enables applications to access data in database management systems that
use structured query language (SQL) as a data access standard. The ODBC
core components listed on my properties page include a control_panel_start
executable file name. The properties page Drivers tab advises; "An ODBC
driver allows ODBC enabled programs to get information from ODBC data
sources. To install new drivers, use the drivers setup program" where's
that? It looks like there's a variety of access tracing log options
available.
Today, I discovered and clicked directX setup in a directX subfolder on my
programs directory and discovered some interesting DSN driver information...
probably lead into the above
Any assistance with understanding these separate programs would be helpful.
Maybe this question is just beyond NetMeeting-Discussion; shouldn't be that
far away from it since I'd like to be able to create test pages on my own
system with NetMeeting links.
I've downloaded the NM Resource Kit, the NM SDK and I think this ODBC data
source administrator must have come from one of those, as here to after
becoming less baffling, program packages.
