re all,

honestly after having met Elektra and other folks at CCC and being
already convinced about the quality of the BATMAN protocol
implementation (now included in the Linux kernel), i think in the
close future it is worth looking at BATMAN-NG that is now being
developed.

also i know personally that the developers of BATMAN are moved by our
same idealism and dreams so I guess we can trust them to design things
in the direction of freedom.

regarding freedombox I guess the show stopper attitude is that of
"selling the skin of the bear before having killed it", if you allow
me the non-veg metaphor: it is a project many of us have realized on
many different scales in the past 10 or 20 years and it doesn't makes
sense to come out with a rebranding of something that is not yet
existing, rather than a peer reviewed observation of what exist and
how to combine it (OBREDIM design principles start with a O!).

The non-problem is that Eben Moglen is such an inspiring speaker that
everytime he does a speech he gets everyone so excited about doing
things :) he got me on that too the time I've seen him in person in
Vienna about 10 years ago... :)

ciao
