1) Proprietary brands for both hardware and software are wrong, so no apple and no xp 2) Fair tendering practices should allow competition and only give system specifications 3) The Supreme Court as the Supreme judicial body must set the proper precedent in this The issue is not why they have specified Window XP instead of Gnu/Linux but why have they specified an operating system at all In the specifications. In the specifications, they should specifically mention only Free and Open Source software for reasons Arun has given. Pranesh/or other legal eagles should add the competition aspect and make this a general letter we could shoot off for any tender.
