Using zlogin works fine:

I agree that we could provide yet more elaborate filtering ability to
ifconfig (beyond the existing up/down/dhcp/this-zone/v4/v6 set
documented in ifconfig(1M)), but the existing user interface is such a
horror show that it cries out for better answers.
