I am working on a project that includes the use of both IPMP and VLAN tagging.
An interesting point of discussion that has come up consists of what is the
official supported configuration by Sun.

I.E:

Configure the primary interfaces with the test addresses and add the
sub-interface as the failover...
- hostname.bge43000
usa0300ux832-v43a netmask + broadcast + group vlan43 up
addif usa0300ux832 netmask + broadcast + deprecated -failover up
- hostname.ce43000
usa0300ux832-v43b netmask + broadcast + group vlan43 deprecated -failover
standby up
- hostname.ce49000
usa0300ux832-v49a netmask + broadcast + group vlan49 up
addif usa0300ux832-v49 netmask + broadcast + deprecated -failover up
- hostname.bge49000
usa0300ux832-v49b netmask + broadcast + group vlan49 deprecated -failover
standby up

or

Configure according to the existing blue prints which mangle up the long but
clean view of IPMP with the failover address taking the primary interface.
- hostname.bge43000
usa0300ux832 netmask + broadcast + group vlan43 up
addif usa0300ux832-v43a netmask + broadcast + deprecated -failover up
- hostname.ce43000
usa0300ux832-v43b netmask + broadcast + group vlan43 deprecated -failover
standby up
- hostname.ce49000
usa0300ux832-v49 netmask + broadcast + group vlan49 up
addif usa0300ux832-v49a netmask + broadcast + deprecated -failover up
- hostname.bge49000
usa0300ux832-v49b netmask + broadcast + group vlan49 deprecated -failover
standby up

It appears from my research the reason for the second was a bug in Solaris 8,
can we expect that this documentation in the S9 and S10 manuals are incorrect
and not updated and that the first configuration is now supported?

Any blueprint documentation lists the second configuration as the what is
recommended, but is out of date by 3 years. It also appears as much of the
manual has been "replicated" rather than rewritten.

BTW, the rearchitecture is impressive!
