More generally, backwards bfu should work across any given flag day,
though not necessarily from great distances. So e.g. if a flag day gets
introduced on June 14, then bfu'ing to the archive from any date in June
to that from any other date in June ought to work, but bfu'ing from some-
thing in July to something in May might not, and the farther out you get
from any given flag day, the less likely it is to work. In other words,
we know that people often have to bfu backwards over short spans (weeks
to small number of months), especially when doing the binary-search-to-
narrow-in-on-a-problem dance, but for large distances (many months or
even years), reinstalling is probably to be expected.
Understood. Specific for this case, I will let Seb decide whether/how to
provide the backwards bfu support for MAC-type plugin bits.
Thanks
- Cathy
