Hello All, I've got a network on which a number of Galaxy systems are using link aggregation on 2 e1000g interfaces. It works well. And thats what puzzles me. None of the switches were configured to aggregate ports, LACP isn't enabled on the switch or on the systems, and yet the aggr's seem fine, we're not seeing errors on the ports, etc. It seems to me that this shouldn't work.
Can anyone help me understand why aggr's work without the switch having any knowledge of the configuration on the system? Does this present problems that I haven't yet encountered or perhaps simply don't know to look for? Given that we're using Dell PowerConect switches which limit aggr groups to 8 even on a 48 port switch I'm inclined to leave the setup alone unless I find a good reason to stop aggregating in this way. Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks. benr. This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ networking-discuss mailing list [email protected]
