Hi Diego,

It's not clear to me if you need this framework to introduce your own socket type or if you simply need kernel sockets. Most likely you need kernel sockets which is another OpenSolaris project that Anders is leading.

Hi
There will be a new mailing-list for that ?
My company is interested also ( we were asking for it in this list ).
There are any requirements list where we can fill ours ?

Thanks

Networkers,

Solaris currently lacks an interface to add custom implementations of socket address families, types and protocols to the kernel without modifying the kernel source.

Although the necessary datastructures are provided in the kernel (sockfs), the different available implementations are chosen in a hardcoded way.

Therefore, I propose a new project "Pluggable Sockets" that adds such an interface. Discussions between Sun networking group and my company resulted in a design concept that has been drafted.

Thanks, Joachim
