Hi,

Sorry to bother you with a problem about Solaris 10 x86 (6/06) in the Open
Solaris Forum, but I have no other go. This forum seems a place where people
actually do get a repsonse :)

I have a Gigabyte 8LD 533 Motherboard and I recently added D-Link DFE-520TX NIC.
Stuff works fine on Windows.
I looked up the HCL on SUN Website and googled and tried installing the RTL8139
driver (same ones as for a DFE 530 and DFE 538 NIC), but that does not seem to
work.

So I downloaded your drivers and burned it on a CD and tried installing it but
that did not work. So I booted Solaris, browsed through the CD and ran the
install.sh script. Rebooted and I got some error messages. Am I doing something
wrong? I did read in the message that I need to wait till the drive spins down,
which I did, but that still does not seem to work.

1) To get to the Install Driver Updates prompt, I need to put the SOlaris 10
x86 6/06 CD 1 and then reboot. Then when I choose the Update driver option,
should I remove this CD and put the CD that has your drivers or is there a
command from which I can get to the Update Drivers prompt?

2) The Via Rhine Chip being spoken about is on the NIC and not on the
motherboard right?

3) Do I need to have two CD ROMs? One where I put the Solaris 10 CD 1 and the
other where I put the DFE 520 CD that I burnt ?

I am sorry if my questions appear dumb, But it will be great if you could help
me out.
