I'd disagree with changing IP or ifconfig such that if someone
did "ifconfig foo0 1.2.3.4 5.6.7.8" it did not result in the
POINTTOPOINT flag being set. This behaviour has been there
for some ... years... the very first line (or two) of ifconfig syntax
on its man page covers this:
ifconfig interface [address_family] [address [/prefix_length]
[dest_address]] [addif address [/prefix_length]]
