That depends on what nameservice you want used for all the 'other' 
things in nsswitch.conf.

For example, if you need to use NIS, or LDAP, then previously you 
probably copied in the nsswitch.nis or nsswitch.ldap files. If you copy 
in the nsswtich.dns file now, you'll undo the changes copying one of 
those made.

Since DNS only really applies to hosts (these days) then it's probably 
easier to edit the nsswitch.conf, and add 'dns' to the 'hosts' (and 
possibly the 'ipnodes') lines.

If you want to see the differences between the sample files, or between 
your current files and a sample one, then 'diff' will help you alot.
