Did you search bugs.opensolaris.org for this?
A quick search for "routeadm doesn't match any instances" revealed CR
6785580, which although reports against xvm, gives some hints of the
problem.
I realise that the details may be different for OpenSolaris, but can you
check (using svcs) that the route:default service actually exists?
Searching pkg.opensolaris.org/dev for routeadm and route.xml show that
routeadm is supplied in SUNWcs (core solaris), but the route.xml
manifest file for the smf service is delivered in SUNWroute. pkg search
and/or pkg info would be able to tell you whether this package was
installed or not.
Depending on what you find, you may need to log a bug on it.
Do the same routeadm commands work in the global zone?

Brian

With SXCE I have all the routing daemons available in non-global zones. When installing a
non-global zone with opensolaris there are only two daemons and I can't enable
ipv4-routing or ipv4-forwarding because I et "Pattern 'route:default' doesn't match
any instances".
Why does that happen and where are all the routing daemons because they are
there in SXCE in a zone? In fact I have never been able to get this workng in
OpenSolaris but can without problem with SXCE.
routeadm -s routing-svcs="route:default" --- doesn't work. get the same "...doesn't
match any instances"
Any ideas Sun?
