In general, you don't want to edit that file.  I think it even says as
much in comments at the top of the file.

Instead, the right way to do it is:

        pfexec dumpadm -y

> pfexec dumpadm -u

The previous dump should still be stored in the dump device.  Try:

        pfexec savecore
