Agreed. I was commenting on the behavior of the OS when you manually configure an address, not on the way the GUI works. Technically, though, the GUI itself (and what it does or doesn't do) isn't in the domain of the networking community; it's part of the desktop community. You can reach those folks through [email protected] or through the NWAM project at [email protected]. I realize that the divisions of responsibility among the groups working here is obscure and not really of primary interest to users, and I completely agree that your complaint is valid and I'm not trying to give you the bum's rush, but the folks who do that part of the work don't all hang out here.
