Boot with the CD or install disk, and start answering questions to start
the installation.  After each question, check on Alt-F2 to see if
there's a '#' prompt.  When one finally appears (and it will before you
do serious damage to your machine), type the following:

        mount </dev/linux/root> /mnt
        chroot /mnt /sbin/lilo

That'll rerun LILO so you can boot from the hard drive.
