Is it appropriate to your > card AND monitor?? > ============================================================== well, if i use 8, that's real ugly. 16 seems to be the only one that will give a semi decent desktop, 24 doesn't seem to work. the card yes the monitor well that could be a little shaky ;-). it's an old monitor for now but i do want to switch. but as before i'm determined to make this one work. ( can ya tell i have no adversion to redoing stuff ). i've edited the xf86config so much since i got a mouse i do know what won't work <bg>. so maybe i'll just rebuild it. i'm beginning to believe it may be the monitor. i don't think it has enough guption for the video card to play nicely. thanks for the food for thought denise
