bz2 files are bzipped archives. bz2 is often used as it has a very good compression ratio. Normally mandrake 6 has bzip2 installed. just try to type bzip2 at a command line and it should pop up with an error message saying it can't output to a terminal. If it doesn't, have a look at the cdrom in the /mandrake/rpms directory. you should find it there and install it using kpackage for example. If you can't find it on the cd, have a look at www.linuxberg.com, it's tucows for linux ;o)

Subject: [newbie] BZ2 FILE?

What is a bz2 file?  I went to kde.org and tried to download some of the applications.  They were all in bz2 format.  What is a bz2 file and how do I install it?
