Can some one give me the information (step by step) to get my Linux machine hooked up to my DSL line. I am lost and have tried everything. Either it is a very complicated process or I have missed something obvious.

My current setup is:

Mandrake 6.0 with two ethernet cards

eth1
IP address is 192.168.1.2
Subnet  is 255.255.255.128

eth0
IP address is 192.168.1.1
Subnet  is 255.255.255.0

I have a Cisco 675 external router. Basically all I can tell you is it is running in PPP mode, has NAT and DHCP server enabled and ipcp has been set to 0.0.0.0 and DNS has been set to 0.0.0.0. It works when I plug it into a Windows machine !!

I am using USWest DSL and ISP service. I DO NOT have a static IP address.

Beyond the above address's which I have entered using the "netcfg" what else do I need to set up ? Is there anything that needs to be configured under the routing tab.

Eventually (like tommorrow.. hehe) I want to go back to IP masquerading as I have done in the past with a dial up connection. .. I guess I need to get the Linux machine to talk to the internet on its own first.

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can provide.

Regards,

Rich
