I'm in the same boat as you.  I also bought a HP 722C thinking it would
work under Linux.  Problem is, as I have come to know too well, the 720
series is a windows only printer.  HP hasn't released any info on the
protocols and they are closed source so noone in the Linux community can
write the proper drivers.  I did get Mandrake 5.3 to print ghostscript
files (someone reverse engineered the protocols), but while tinkering with
low level configs I accidentally wiped out my hard drive, so I don't know
where the files are and I haven't been able to find them on the net again
(haven't had the time to look either).  Try looking around Linux newsgroup
archives because that is where I found the info the first time.  And one
last thing.  If you do get it entirely working, let me know!  Good luck.
