Unless you've got a real lot of RAM, you should set it up.

I've read this too a couple of times, and I'd say it's complete nonsense.
Why would someone with 256 MB RAM need 640 MB SWAP (->896 MB virtual
memory!)?
My personal rule for swap space is about "256 MB - amount of RAM"; this
works well for me.
