For listen to CD at Xmms you have to install the plug-in Xmmx Cdread. You can find it at Mdk 8,2 third CD or at
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=xmms-cdread+&submit=Search+...&system=&arch=

I read it somewhere and it worked for me.
