There is a file called /var/log/XFree86.0.log  which contains a log of your 
attempt to startX  You may find the reason for the failure in there.
If you cannot understand the contents, copy the file into your Windows 
partition and then either post it in a mail, or send it as an attachment 
direct to me if it is too large for a mail.  If you send your XF86Config-4 
file as well I could check if it looks OK.

It is also worth posting on that mandrakeuser.org board as well. You will get 
your problem in front of more people.
