How do I do reset colour depth at 16 bit or more (shouldn't it be 32 bit ?)

I set it all up and get it working as root then worry about users.

OK, I've got it fixed,
Seems as though there is something unstable about the
Mandrake Control Centre -hardware - XDisplay, setup
because the OS was definately 1280x1024 32bit display
everywhere except for the display programmes which for
some reason thought differently.

Anyway after dozens of Xdisplay attempts,
you must get the order right ,

monitor, driver, resolution, test , logout login,

monitor : generic monitor 1280x1024@60Hz.

driver : GeForce3(generic) , XFree4.2.0,

  (XFree3.3.6 [ 3D ? ] the afternative refuses to
   accept a higher resolution:error:-
(**)SVGA:32bpp not supported for this chipset
                  try to change some parameters)

resolution: 1280x1024 (32bit)

If you go, driver , monitor, resolution everything
reverts to lower reolution, despite testing correctly
for the higher resolution.Never mind.

Thanks anyway,

John
