Hi all! I just downloaded the 'Python2.2.2.tar' file and as I am a new user I have no idea on how to install it. I have successfully extracted the compressed file.
The Readme file that came along with states the following: "To start building right away (on UNIX): type "./configure" in the current directory and when it finishes, type "make". This creates an executable "./python"; to install in /usr/local, first do "su root" and then "make install". This confuses me as it doesn't explain in any depth what one is supposed to do. Can anyone assist me? Regards budest
