I would venture to say that it's the graphics card, mate. If you went with the "default" drivers, which I presume you did, then you're going to be suffering. If you can find either a driver that more closely matches your graphics card, you'll be able to make more full use of the RAM onboard as well as the processing on the graphics card. Do you happen to know if it's the one that has the NVidia chipset onboard?
