OK... I fixed my tv video quality problems and here's what I did for others who may need it.
Fine tuning of channels is done via the ~/.xawtv file with the value fine = #(-128 to 127) I set the fine value to fine = 10 et voila! After spending HOURS on it, it turned out to be that simple. I hope this helps someone else in the future too! Thanks to Stephen for helping out!
