Can you give us more information about what you've done, what is in your
config-files etc ?

Some thing that goes through my mind now:
- before restarting bind, open another terminal and do
        "tail -f /var/log/messages"
It gives valueable information about possible errors.
- Put your loopback in /etc/resolve.conf
- use dig for DNS lookups
