When I lived in Hindman, I let a mate keep goats on the property. This resolved two issues - 1.) Where he could keep his goats, and 2.) How to keep the grass on the sides of the holler manageable. Cost to me: ZERO ...and guess how much it cost me to plow my 5 acres of bottom in the holler? ZERO. Gave a mate a complete system and secured my plowing for two years (any time I wanted it done). ...and guess how much it cost to clear off all the poplars, walnuts, pines, birches, oaks and a few cherry trees? ZERO. The mill came and cut'em up, and I got half the profits. HA !!!! (grin) Now I didn't mind getting out once in a while with a scythe to get some exercise, but that was by choice, mate. Either to stretch a few muscles or to clear a bad hangover.
