want to repartition HD in order to install mandrake 9.1, but without
loosing data. Have partition magic rescue disks but no disk drive
(laptop). any ideas?

Apparently MDK 9.1 install will resize NTFS partitions, so just boot
from the Mandrake CD and go from there.

I've resized partitions this way several times and not lost data. Just be sure to defragment your hard drive (assumming XP still fragments in the same way as Win95/98) and as Joe says ...

As always, "back up your critical data".
