That's not strictly true, there are Mandrake specific pre-compiled binaries for notlame (an mp3 encoder) over at PLF (http://plf.zarb.org/). Simply head on over to http://www.zarb.org/~nanardon/ and choose an URPMI plf source, add it and then urpmi ripperx and urpmi notlame and you are all set. Simple as pie.
