about the low performance, i got this issue twice. Now i installed mdk again and got no problem yet. but expecting a reincidence, i googled, and found losts of people complaining about that. someone in some forum said that solved the problem by correctly configuring resolv.conf or something like that. (I can see it for you tomorrow on my office).
