What you're looking for is the display manager isn't it? If so it'd be in the 
Mandrake Control Center under the "System" section, "Choose display manager." 
You're probably using the mdkkdm and the one you're used to and asking about 
it is the kdm, or default kde display manager.

Give that a try, it sounds like what you want.
