In GUI use ALT F2 and #mencoder then just do a find using Konqueror.

How do you search a manual for specific references without having to

I'd like to scan man mencoder for references to AC3

surely there must be some simple way of doing this

One time of day mandrake included Xemacs which had a simple 
facility to
do just this, now days it doesn't, so there must be some other easy 
way
on the the job perhaps on the CL at least.
