This is a very basic feature of Linux nad has been in exitence since forever. maybe it is so basic that everyone just assumes that everyone else knows how to do it.

Actually, there are 6 virtual consoles, VT1 through VT6, accessed with a ctrl-alt-Fx sequence where x number of the console you wish to access.

I knew about CTRL+F# through CLI but never knew how to do it from GUI. And I THOUGHT you had to choose permamently between graphical greeter and CLI unless you changed it. Course being the philosophy behind linux I should have known better. TYVM.
